ERIC SECHRIST
AIA, NCARB | Principal
Licensure State of Colorado
Education Masters in Architecture, University of Colorado at Denver. B.A. Psychology, Indiana University Bloomington.
Eric Sechrist joined F&M Architects in the Spring of 2017. After receiving his masters in architecture in 2011 Eric made his way to Aspen to pursue his architectural career and has since been focused on commercial, civic and residential work in and around the Roaring Fork Valley.
While receiving his degree with and concentration in design-build at the University of Colorado Denver, Eric became involved with DesignBuildBLUFF, an organization based in Utah that enriches the lives of families on the Navajo reservation by designing and building sustainable homes. It was here in Bluff, UT Eric discovered the importance of architecture and construction being a collaborative process that fully engages the client to develop solutions specific to both site conditions and lifestyle.
Eric has a fondness for history and historic structures. Having spent time on the City of Aspen’s Historic Preservation Commission, Eric learned of Aspen’s unique past not only as a former mining town but a cultural hub of the world during the mid-century era and beyond. Discovering this dynamic past has had a major influence on Eric’s approach to design, one that values the importance of historic preservation but also respects current building technologies that will mark our own time in history.
Eric and his family now live in Carbondale Colorado. In his spare time Eric likes to spend time skiing, mountain biking, traveling, golfing and throwing the frisbee with his dogs.
